Creation

We're sisters Marika & Ilana who founded our namesake brand Lanamara as a reflection of our own style and sensibility.

Growing up our mum was a dressmaker and made all her own and our clothes, and also taught us to sew, so creativity and craft was always at the centre of what we did.

We always loved adding a handbag or accessory as part of the ritual of getting dressed and adding layers, so creating Lanamara was a natural extension of this. 

We create pieces that allow women to effortlessly express their own sense of style and feel that they've invested in something that is both considered and carefully crafted.

 

Inspiration

Inspired by an Australian sense of optimism and relaxed glamour, Lanamara also reflects our travels and personal style and also influences of art, photography, fashion and street style and interiors from around the world.

We express our creativity through products that our customers need because we are our customers, women who are juggling their everyday lives and want to invest in beautiful quality pieces that transcend trends and are loved for years to come. 

 

 

 

 

We design based on the needs and desires of our own multifaceted lives.

We’re both mums, wives and entrepreneurs as are many of our friends so we ask ourselves firstly, would I wear this? Does it fit into our lifestyles, running kids around to school and sport, dinner with friends or jumping on a plane.

Creativity and function are central to the products we create, this combined with elements of craft conveys our unique aesthetic.  

 

Artisanal craftmanship and quality

We seek out crafts and traditional techniques so that we can help preserve a part of history by consciously designing to support our artisans.

Applications of handcrafts paired with ethical materials including leather, raffia, loomstate canvas and brass result in elevated pieces that convey an authenticity.

 

 

Every Lanamara product is made by our artisans in India, Morocco & Melbourne or by us in our regional studio, the result is beautifully crafted bags and accessories that have a story.
